Your First Visit to Our Summerville Practice
For many people the first visit to a new health care provider is a step into the unfamiliar. Please allow us to give you an outline of what to expect.
Your first visit with us is designed to get an overall picture of your current health status in order to be safe and thorough with you. When you arrive on your first visit, you will be greeted by one of our friendly assistants who will ask you to complete some information on your health history and current lifestyle.
Your first visit will allow us to gather as much relevant information about you as we can in order to determine how we can best serve you. This visit may take up to 45-50 minutes, so please allow enough time. Please bring a copy of any past CT's, MRI's, xrays or other relevant test results.
At your first visit we will ask some questions, perform examination and conduct appropriate diagnostic test to get a picture of your current health status!
Once you have completed your questionnaire, our staff will take you back and run three initial test on you. Once completed, Dr. Heather will go over the consultation results with you.
Dr. Heather will then complete a thorough health history with you, asking questions about any specific complaint you may have, as well as questions about your overall current health status. Following your history, Dr. Heather will complete an examination of your spine and nervous system. Dr. Heather will check your posture, examine the way that your spine moves, perform any orthopedic and neurological testing that is required, and feel your spine and surrounding muscles for the presence of imbalance or subluxation.
At the conclusion of your examination Dr. Heather may wish to have some x-rays taken of your spine. The x-ray examination will determine exactly where we need to focus your care and what needs to be done to give you the best results. X-rays will be taken on site.
After your consultation, Dr. Heather will take their time carefully reviewing your x-rays and comparing them with the result for the examination preformed today.
These results of today's exams will be presented to you on your next visit.
